VANITY FAIR, Pregnant Demi Moore
Nominated by Jane Wolfston, Initiative:
The August 1991 cover of Demi Moore shot by Annie Leibovitz caused controversy at the time by showing an A list pregnant celebrity in a willing state of undress. Many were up in arms about the 'unnecessary exposure' but I just see a beautiful and tasteful image. The photograph was unique and iconic, since paving the way for other celebrities (not all A list!) to be photographed in the nude, heavily pregnant for magazine covers in copy cat poses.
The cover was eye catching, affected Vanity Fair sales in a positive way and 17 years on the image is still crystal clear in my mind.
