EMPIRE, Superman lenticular cover
Nominated by Dominic Williams, Carat:
Empire's continual use of innovative formats for their front covers re-enforces their positional as market leader within their sector and shows a depth of understanding surrounding their niche. Although the Superman lenticular featuring Clark Kent transforming into Superman was not their first creative endeavour it certainly was one of the first to have such an impact.
By tapping into the key editorial platform and the hype surrounding big launches Empire not only gains stand-out on the newsstand, but also gained massive PR. It is good to see a title itself investing in innovation and providing its reader with value through collectability rather than just relying on its advertisers to do so.
