Magazine Week is part of the PPA's remit to promote and protect the interests of the magazine industry. The initiative is designed to increase awareness of the magazine industry in the UK today and to communicate the breadth of the magazine offering. The Week combines retail promotion and branding with a packed PR schedule, exciting and educating the general public about the vast range of titles available.

For those of us old enough to remember when Supermodels were a new phenomenon, this January 1990 Vogue cover really epitomised the whole concept - and of course it appeared on the magazine that had been a massive part of making that phenomenon possible. Not only are the women stunningly beautiful - especially Cindy! - but the shot is brilliant in its (apparent) simplicity, and the image made us all feel that, as we left the lairy and gaudy 80's behind, real beauty and style were ahead of us in the exciting 90's. It's impact and potency went far beyond the cover of a single issue of a single magazine, and apart from launching the five girls into the modelling stratosphere, it inspired and influenced women for years to come - and probably, in some small way, it still is now!
