Beth Ditto is the UK's favourite cover girl
2nd Oct 2008Beth Ditto has been voted the UK's favourite magazine cover girl by the British public.
In doing so, she beat half a dozen of the most popular cover girls in recent years, including Princess Diana, Kate Moss, Jordan, Beyonce and Abi Titumuss. Victoria Beckham finished a very surprising last.
Ditto's showing in the poll was no doubt bolstered by the memorable image of her nude figure on the front cover of NME, published in 2007 - an image that was also nominated in a separate poll to find the UK's greatest-ever magazine cover.
The shortlist of cover girls within the poll was compiled with the help of some of the UK's top celebrity magazine editors, who provided their take on the celebrity they would regard as the number one cover girl.
Johnny Depp is the most popular UK cover boy, soundly beating Sean Connery, Brad Pitt, Prince William, George Clooney, Will Smith, the bookies favourite David Beckham (quoted odds of 7/4 by Paddy Power) and Daniel Craig.
Both polls were organised by the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) in support of Magazine Week 2008.
